it's like words with friends in real life!

It started out really well, we were neck and neck for a while.

But then it turned in to this:

The worst part is that the last tile pulled was the Z and I ended up having to eat it.

Still won though (insert smiling devil face emoji here.  If you want to know the truth I asked Jon how to make a devil face on the computer and his explanation was, "umm I think it's like, period carat and then you go to the next line and it's like comma comma period, or like something with the asterisc, I'm not sure" so I just decided to let you use your imagination.).

mira Titi gets a new name

The other morning at work I was doing my opening routine of cleaning and organizing when my favorite girl from the cleaning crew stopped what she was doing to deliver me this candy.  She said she'd gone home to Peru for vacation and she brought it back for me.  She obviously knows my style.

It was too early in the morning for Dona Pepa so I put her in the drawer to save for later.  Somehow I forgot all about her (unbelievable I know) and I wasn't reminded until today when mira Titi opened the drawer and goes, "what is this?"

I immediately realized that Dona Pepa was mira Titi's alter ego.  When she gets extremely tan, puts on her hoop earrings, and covers her hair in candy sprinkles.  I don't know why this hadn't occured to me before, it seems so obvious now.

I still never opened it and tried it though.  My plan is to bring Jonathan to meet all my work friends while he's here, so maybe I'll make him split the Dona Pepa candy with me.  I'll let you know how it is.  If it's anything like mira Titi it will be spicy and unpredictable.

so glad I remembered

I can't even think of the last time a show was on TV that I actually made an effort to remember to watch every week.  No exaggerations I think the last time was for "I Love Money".

Speaking of which, when is she going to come back to television?  Or maybe the silver screen?  One can dream.

But the point is, I just got home from work and was preparing to resume my deep clean in preparation for my houseguest(s?) this weekend.  I was scrolling through the guide, hoping for an antiques roadshow marathon, when I realized it was Monday night.  And I even have time to do a blog post before my new favorite show comes on.

So far they have only done two episodes of this show but I was hooked before they even did the first one.  Basically each episode is an hour long documentary following the stories of two different people who, at an early age, expressed memories from a previous life.  In the first two episodes they seemed to pair up one really good story with one mediocre one, but either way it's fascinating to watch.  In some of the cases the kids are adults now and it's just them and their families relating stories from their childhoods, but in some of the cases they are telling the story while the kid is still a kid.  They tell most of the stories through the family members up until the end when they reveal the kid and let them tell their story, and it's really unnerving in the ones where they are still so young.

Anyways, the point is that I forgot that I'd been eagerly awaiting this weeks episode so you can imagine my excitement when I realized it was only a few minutes away.

Also, when I did the google search for that image from the show I accidentally typed, "The ghost inside my chile" which surprisingly didn't yield much different results.

dream car

Leaving Publix I came across this beauty that stopped me in my tracks.

I could get in to some trouble in that bad boy, and you know I'm serious.

no explanation necessary

Saw this on my bike ride today and had to stop for a picture.  I think the most disconcerting aspect is how it's so small and kind of faded so you probably wouldn't even notice it, especially if you were driving.

That doesn't make it any less true though.

oh the temptation

Tonight on my run I came across this, a stretch of freshly laid sidewalk.  It was completely unattended and I so wanted to write my name in it but I didn't.  I guess I felt like this wasn't my neighborhood to graffiti, even though I've been here for 3 years now this coming September.

Although maybe I should have, left my mark to prove I'd been here.

then titi came to play

As you may recall my immaturity sometimes gets the best of me at work when it comes to the names of the clothes.  Today I unpacked this gem from a shipment and laughed and laughed.  When I showed it to Jenny she nonchalantly goes, "Yeah, titi, so what?"

She pronounced it 'tee-tee' and said it was a nickname to call your Aunt when you're a kid in certain Spanish cultures.  This was confirmed by Anjali, making the name slightly less hilarious.  Still, it's given me a new name to call Jenny.

When we first started working together I would constantly hear Jenny saying, "mira" this and "mira" that.  It drove me nuts because once I noticed it with Jenny I noticed that almost every spanish customer we had would say "mira" all the time.  I finally heard Jenny say it to Laura one day and stopped them to ask what it meant.  Apparently the urgency in my voice, combined with the innocuousness of the words meaning (look), just made them laugh and laugh at me.  From then on Jenny has been Mira to me.

And now, from today forward, she's Mira Titi.

It's better than Poupee.

from bridge to bridge

I actually went for a run yesterday as soon as I got home from work.  It was an August miracle!!

My intention was to go for another run tonight after I closed but that is definitely not happening.  I am feeling like I might be getting sick and I open tomorrow so I am letting go of the dream of exercising today.

As penance I am making sure to post on here.  I've got to do something besides wake up, go to work, and come home each day.

authentic!

It was a campaign sticker!!  I was impressed.

Also, Florida.

I miss miller

It was hard for me to leave without packing him up to take with me.

But at least we got to spend some quality time together.

: (((

I love him.

what are the odds

I pulled this card at random from the deck on my sister's kitchen table without even realizing they were Tarot cards.  The accuracy is unnerving.

My favorite part is all the birds at the bottom.  They are nice.

oh yeah, that guy

I had to stop and get cash before paying the toll for alligator alley, this was on the stop sign in the Publix parking lot in the middle of nowhere Florida.  I had forgotten all about Kony, what was the deal with all that?  The guy went crazy and got arrested for being naked and shouting things on the street corner?  And what about Kony?  He was real right?  Did anything ever happen with him?

I'm sure a quick google search would answer many of my questions but I have neither the time nor the energy for that foolishness.  It's been a long day, I'm too excited to sleep tonight alongside my good friend Miller.

It's nice over here on the west coast.

sorry

Didn't realize I'd let a full week go past without posting ANYTHING.

Would it help if I told you I've been scoping out this:

Rest assured I will be joining him for breakfast as soon as possible.

Taking a much needed mini vacation tomorrow, hopefully will have interesting things to share.  Otherwise, you'll have to wait till this weekend when I go watch that turtle eat cactus.

oh sorry, your fat cat

I can't believe I forgot to share this precious precious angel with you.  And for once I actually like the caption underneath.

I don't have anything else to say so enjoy these pictures of my fat cat:

He's angry.

seen on my bike ride

I wonder if there was an incident that caused them to have to put this sign up or if it is just to be funny.  It looks more serious and official than whimsical and kitschy.

I also found myself in some fancy neighborhood at one point, the kind where the houses have real gas lanterns on either side of the driveway gates, and I saw this spectacle:

What do you think they have in the garage that merits parking both of these in the driveway?  It didn't seem to be a temporary thing either, both cars had a large amount of tree debris and the cloth top on the Bentley was even starting to mildew.

Maybe they are just inundated with luxury vehicles and need a good samaritan like me to take some off their hands.  I should have knocked on their door and offered my services.

thank goodness it's in gif form

Now I can enjoy it over and over, anytime.

I love when he checks behind him to see where he's going.

: (((

I LOVE HIM

source

I like how he's just like, "oh don't mind me, I'm just going to take this and be on my way".

And this is my favorite quote from the article:

"He just grabbed right onto it," said Edelweiss Restaurant's manager on Thursday. "There's just something about a bear taking a trash Dumpster away."

I couldn't agree more.

rabbit rabbit rabbit

Ahh August.  I have no feelings either way about August.  My summer has been kind of strange and terrible since losing the Benz right at the beginning of it.  Since all of that drama followed me in to July I kind of just gave up on having a summer.  But things are kind of starting to settle and it is the start of a new month so maybe I can salvage my summer here in the end.

So far so good, I spent my morning visiting all the nice doggies.

It was bad enough with two at a time but now Daniel is training 4!  I'm supposed to not get emotionally attached to four dogs?!  IMPOSSIBLE.

After visiting with the greyhounds for a little bit I got to spend some time with Yeti.  Pictures with her are way less adorable as all she wants to do be all up in my face.

As Daniel pointed out, her head is like twice the size of mine, so when she comes lunging at me for kisses it's a little terrifying.

I likened it to posing with your head inside an alligators open mouth.

I know she just wants to sniff and lick but I also know she could kill me pretty much instantly if she wanted to.

I love her.

Only Gypsy could distract her long enough for me to get a picture of her face.

Or when I was giving her booty pets.

But our photo shoot was short lived as Yeti has little patience for the summertime heat.  It didn't take long before she went to patiently wait at the door to go back in to the air conditioning.

She's so big and fluffy and happy : (

She says, "ok, enough pictures, let me inside now please".

I'm really glad I got to see all the dogs this morning, and I've even still managed to make it to the grocery store and am now doing laundry.  I think that's all the things I said I was going to do today.  I do kind of wish I could have stayed and played with the dogs all day, I guess I will just have to be content with this guy:

who is decidedly less happy to spend time with me.
