a juicy beach day

It's been really beautiful weather down here lately and yesterday I got to take advantage with a beach day with my friend Mark.

I even treated myself to a juice pit stop on my way.  Now I go back to work with a golden tan, knowing whatever happens I'm off again tomorrow : )

Heather regrets her choice

I don't know what she was thinking.  Heather eats cleaner than I do!  I don't know why she thought she could handle mocha cookie crumble anything.

I'm thankful to have discovered Myapapaya where I can get a chocolate shake that I won't regret for days after.  Although to be honest I haven't really gotten past their pressed juices.  The Hawaii 5-Glo?!  So good!!  And even though it's a tad on the expensive side it actually makes it doubly good for me.  Not only am I getting delicious juices back in to my diet, but I'm so broke that I can't get anything else that would be bad for me.

I will be beach body ready for the summer.

best song title ever

Once upon a time I opened a juice bar on the lower east side with a friend and almost from day one our most regular and best customer was the lead singer of the Crash Test Dummies.

When asked if he was working on anything new he would always respond with, "I'm really in to Gregorian chanting right now"

But are you working on anything new?

I forgot it's nice in the daytime too

I went to visit my grandfather yesterday but he was in therapy when I got there.  I decided to leave him to work and I went downtown to get a juice before heading out to the beach.  I was hoping to maybe be able to swim but the water is already too cold for a wuss puss like me.

But it was really nice to just walk on the beach anyways.  I love the beach on cloudy days, it becomes so much more dynamic.  The shadows change the color so much, especially on the water.  And it's nice to get caught under a cloud for the few minutes of shade it offers.  The water may be too cold already but it's still in the low 90's during the day here.

Which is why now is the perfect time to come visit!

a nice place to read (?)

I went downtown yesterday to Whole Foods for a juice and a shot of ginger.  I was hoping to be able to find a spot outside to sit and read but it was a crowded saturday so I ended up driving a bit down to Van Wezel and this spot.  You may remember it from this post.

While it looks quite picturesque it was not exactly the best day for sitting here and reading.  The Irene related winds were whipping to the extent that you had to keep your fingers on all four corners of the book to keep the pages still enough to be able to read.  And my idyllic spot at the end of the cape was really just an opportunity to be misted every time the water spramp* ashore.

*bonus points if you know that reference

Anyways, it was still a nice place to sit and enjoy my juice and my book.  I'm reading a meghan recommendation right now that is so so good.  I will surely do a post when I'm finished with it, which I'm sure will be soon.

So excited for the last week of August.  So so excited.

an afternoon with my favorite cheese monger

While waiting for Lilly to meet me I was staring at this corner and trying to figure out why it looked so strange.  I finally realized that this was where the Virgin store used to be.  What a sign of the times that it's a bank now eh?

It was really nice getting to reconnect with Lilly.  Who knew that you could find a flower filled enclave in Union Square to sit and have a juice?

After a thorough discussion of my life and its lack of direction we made our way to Anthropologie where Lilly was looking to burn through a gift card.  I think she should have gone with this torture chair:

Perfect for handcuffing a person to, and it's open bottom is perfect for when your victim loses control of their bowels from the torture.  I can't imagine what else this chair would be for since it was the least comfortable thing I have ever sat on.  And i've sat on some uncomfortable things.

The biggest thing is just that I got to reconnect with an old friend, which I think is really important for me right now.  I'm feeling very "I remember me" these days.  Or more like "I need to remember me".  Too many dumb people trying to make me do things that I don't want to do.

Mmm, I think it's time to have a jam out to J-Hud.  Thank's Meghan for giving me the run of your place so I can lip synch in my underwear to my hearts content.

I've been there before

I found this for sale at Target.  I'm not entirely sure what is in this box but it sounds familiar.

It makes me think of this crazy lady (who shall remain nameless but trust me, her name is amazing) from back in my juicing days who told Meghan and Sam that she once fasted for 40 days and at the end of it she had manifested her soul mate.  Wether she manifested a real person or just made a man out of broccoli and sat him at her kitchen table I still don't know, but I do think she's the perfect person to have the ultimate yoga meltdown.
