not reassuring
I take the detective to the Metroville Animal Clinic on 2nd Avenue whenever he needs checking out. They are really great there, I highly recommend.
They have a wall of pictures of some of their patients and this guy caught my eye. I love his name, it definitely suits him.
But as much as I enjoyed looking at all the pictures of nice doggies and kitties, this morning didn't do anything to allay my fears about this trip on Friday. The detective literally howled the entire way to the vet's and the entire way back.
It was long mournful howling too, as if he was slowly being crushed to death. I'm really concerned that they aren't even going to let me on the plane because of him.
I did get some kitty dope for him so hopefully I can at least get him to stop with the meowing.
The most annoying part was that when we actually took him out of the carrier at the vet's office he was totally fine. He was acting as if he had lived at the vet's office his whole life, just kind of hanging out casually, looking around.
I just don't understand why he always has to be so dramatic.

it is halloween, it is halloween
Had a fun time this weekend, don't remember too much of it. Today meghan and I at lunch on the upper east side and then had a beer at that german place on 86th and 2nd, so we saw lots of kids in costumes. It was really sweet. Having been in nyc for so long now I've grown accustomed to the trick or treating at stores that kids in the city have to do, but meghan was still amazed by it. I guess it is wild to think how different those memories are than for those of us that grew up in the suburbs. It's like when you think about how no other countries celebrate thanksgiving. It's just uncomfortable.
The best costume I saw all weekend was a man walking down 77th street dressed as the pillsbury dough boy. He was a rather portly gentleman so he was able to go without a shirt and just have white body paint on and he pretty much fit the description. And I thought my costume was revealing.

Candy Fingers
Note: these pictures are not affiliated with Candy Fingers on 2nd avenue, I just had to use the name because it grosses Laura out.
These are actually ads that are in the downstairs lobby of the building I work in. I remember the first day I showed up for the interview and I saw them and I had a moment of, "maybe I should go to this place instead"
I mean that just looks like good old fashioned fun. I wonder how hard it is to learn how to do this. Are these like appliques? Or stencils? They can't do these by hand do they? And are they actually the girls names or are they press on?
I really don't care how you slice it, I want a panda on my fingernails
how would you even function with that on your finger?! i love it.
