how to break into a 2004 Ford Ranger at Aventura Mall

I blame my pants for locking my keys in the car. See the problem is that they are too tight so I can't put much in the pockets, thus I left my keys on the seat and didn't realize until after I'd locked and shut the door.

Thankfully Elliot and Mike were there to save the day.

They worked tirelessly until their mission was accomplished.

The video they made was as a response to the available "how to break in to a ford ranger" videos, which mostly sucked.  I like theirs a lot better.  And it's already come in handy!

After Elliot showed me the video he said, "Oh and we left you a surprise in your truck".

Thanks guys.

how do you explain this?

The balloon that is still aloft is my "we'll miss you" balloon that the girls in Boca got me on my last day back in NOVEMBER.  The sad balloon barely clinging to life is my "happy birthday" balloon I received at the beginning of this month from Gala.

What kind of sorcery was used on my going away balloon that it is still as perky as the day it was inflated?  I'm determined to keep it until it dies a natural death but now having another balloon come and go in the meantime makes me realize it's a little ridiculous to still have my going away balloon when I'm about to start the 3rd month of my new job.

Maybe I should take bets for how long it will end up lasting.

me leaving work

And in the new truck I almost mean that literally.  Maybe I should look in to that paint job.

Today was my last day at Aventura, from now on it will be nothing but blue Boca skies.  It's going to be so much fun, I can't wait.

why would today be any different?

I woke up this morning to the sun shining blindingly brightly in to my apt.  Finally, no more rain, back to life as we knew it in sunny Florida!

It was not meant to be.

I walked in to Starbucks with the sun on my shoulders.  I turned around after I ordered to discover that it had turned in to the end of days outside.

And it never stopped.

No like really.

Notice the geyser of water shooting up from the storm drain.

By the time I took my break the water had begun to enter the mall:

By 8:00 pm the carnage was starting to show:

I don't know why I didn't see any horrible foreshadowing in this scene.

By closing time the tow trucks had started to show up.

And this is when things got out of control.

And as my luck would have it I had to abandon my flooded car in Aventura.  Will find out tomorrow if it can be fixed or if it really drowned.

foolishness

This was the line for the new iphone this morning, except apparently this wasn't even the worst of it.  I guess Apple opened early this morning to start selling them so by the time I showed up for work I just got the stragglers.

I remember when the original iphone came out and this ridiculous line at the soho store.  There were people at the front of the line trying to sell their spot, asking for hundreds of dollars in exchange for the two days they slept on the sidewalk.

This isn't that bad, but this is also for an upgraded iphone with barely any upgrades.  I was not expecting this many people so early in the morning.

comfortable familiarity

I had to get the roadster back from Elliot yesterday so I could take it to the shop to fix the scars that Norland left on it.

Having taken two weeks off from driving it I had forgotten how fun it is.  It's like a rocket ship!  Heather was nice enough to take me down to Aventura to get it and then she followed me back up to Ft. Lauderdale.  It was really fun anytime we were at a stoplight together, particularly when it turned green and I saw he getting smaller and smaller in my rearview mirror : p

Sadly I had to turn it over today so I will not be driving it again for who knows how long.  He said they might have to order a new door from Germany.  UNfortunately they won't be replacing the lock, which means I will have a new door with a still busted lock.

I think when I get the roadster back from this adventure, and once I've recouped my losses from buying the benzo, I am just going to get it tricked out.  I have always thought about racing stripes, I think it would be fun to do the paint job from the toy versions.

Matchbox:

or Hot Wheels:

I like them both, Elliot said I would look like a tool if I got "roadster" on the door panel like that but I think if people knew it was from the toy they would appreciate it.  But I also like the subtle M logo on the door panel of the Matchbox one too, I just don't know how it would look on black.  Perhaps I should get a glittery silver paint job all around...

So many options.
