this still happens

He's like, "I don't know if you noticed me or not but I'm here for cuddles".

The cold weather has made him particularly affectionate lately.  It's been a challenge to drag myself out of bed for work each morning.

all done ok?

I'm finally completely moved out of the downstairs unit and in my fancy new upstairs unit.  Can you tell?

There were a few snags along the way today that kept delaying the process.  Mostly just my own inability to focus on anything.

It really didn't help that I kept having to take breaks to chase that bad cat down after he would run bolt out the door.  One time when I caught him outside without even realizing he had gotten out I went after him and he ran to the downstairs apartment and tried to get in.  I feel sorry for whoever moves in there, I feel like he will continue to terrorize them.

He's angry about the new place, and the fact that I still haven't put things in order.  He's laying on the exact spot where he would be laying on the couch if it were there.

Oh and he's already sat down in the bathroom sink so I guess that change didn't upset him too much.  He's pissed about the bed situation though.  In my old place there was a built in bedside table thing that was attached to the wall and dictated that your bed had to be put next to it in a certain way.  This apt doesn't have that so I have my bed pushed in to the corner so it's touching the wall on two sides.  Now the detective's favorite place to sleep is in the corner which he does not do.  He needs to have the freedom to drape himself over the edge of the bed.

Last night was my first night sleeping up here and it was nice.  I mean, I was so exhausted that I'm sure I would have slept as well regardless of where I was, but I definitely didn't wake up to any noises.  And it's so nice to be able to open my blinds!

It's back to work tomorrow so we'll see how long I can live with this clutter before I go crazy and have to deal with it.  For now though I am going back to sleep.

soooo tired

The new thing is that you're not supposed to immediately make your bed upon waking up because then the sheets stay warm and dark which breeds dust mites.  Instead you're supposed to let your bedding air out before remaking your bed.

The problem is that by the time I'm ready to make my bed I can't because there is one large irritable dust mite sleeping right in the middle of all my bedding.

How am I supposed to disturb him?!  He's just so relaxed and comfortable.

he's helping

The detective was being a terror all morning.  If you're wondering what those sparkles are around his eyes they're drops of water.  At his insistence I turned the water on for him and he just kept sticking his whole head under it and letting it run across his cheek.  When he finally did start drinking it he got so eager that I guess water went up his nose.  He sneezed like 8 times in a row.  It cracked me up.

But he really decided to be a good boy and help me when i was trying to make my bed, as referenced earlier in the mariah post.

Once I had gotten the bed stripped he immediately flopped down in the very center.  He did look very adorable so I wanted to give him some nice pets.  This was his response:

I feel like I always look like a cutter because of the gashes along my forearms.  He gets such a faraway look in his eyes when he bites me and kicks me.  It's kind of creepy.  Like rage is his drug of choice.

Well I finally couldn't take anymore and went to picking up my room, hoping he would get bored and leave my bed.  He didn't, but his best friend came to join the party:

One of these days i'm going to take a video showing how these pictures are not me catching kitty with a funny look on his face.  He literally sits completely still like he's pretending to be dead but really just waiting for the right moment to attack.  In reality he's just weird and lazy.

I finally got them both off my bed and put the fitted sheet on.  I am not kidding when I say I literally turned around to get the sheet, turned back and found this:

I don't even know where he came from.  I thought I had seen him leave the room altogether.  He was not pleased about me taking so many pictures of him:

I decided that if he was going to insist on being on the bed I would just have to make him in to the bed.  At first he played my game of chicken, acting like it didn't bother him in the slightest:

But once we got to this point he couldn't take it anymore.  He stayed under there for like 30 seconds before he finally ran away:

At one point when I was doing yoga I looked over and there was a pile of dark fur sticking out from under the door to my room, but I haven't seen him since.  I guess maybe he got called in for a case? I'm sure he's figure out some way to retaliate against me.
