I'm ashamed of myself

I knew there was a Mariah song but I couldn't think of it when I did that post earlier.  It's because it's Jay Z that says it, I wasn't thinking outside the box.  Thank you Jonathan for reminding me of this NECESSITY.

not every song, just the best ones

The other day my coworker Brittany made a comment about how all of Mariah's songs are about love or relationships.  I wasn't able to come up with any songs to contradict her at the time but have given it a lot of thought since.  There are some, a few songs, but yes, overwhelmingly she does a lot of songs about love.

Why mess with success?

Anyways it had never really occurred to me that she primarily writes songs about relationships and I keep thinking about it.  I wonder if it's affecting me, listening to songs about love all the time.  I do notice that I think about past relationships when I'm listening to certain songs of hers.  It just sucks that all the good ones remind me of all the worst relationships.




That's what I cling to.

Thank you Jonathan for sending this to me, and the news that she is coming out with a new album!!!

I can't wait.

I love when she reads those lyrics from heartbreaker and asks what they mean.  I have literally asked Jon the same thing, in a similar fashion.

the requests keep pouring in

Everyone was jealous of Sarah's mix cd at work so I've since made these two cds as well.

While Janelle's cd is unique for her its composition was made easier by having spent the past three days immersed in Mariah for Sarah's mix.  I did get to include a special "Janelle only" surprise of Loverboy after I remembered that she said she liked Glitter.

Stina's mix proved more of a challenge.  I wanted to steer clear of songs like Without You or Heartbreaker and stick to the "I'm fabulous" message of Someday.  Because of the limitations Stina's mix ended up a lot shorter than Janelle's or Sarah's, for which I feel bad.  Perhaps Stina will be getting a second cd in the future...
