a nice visitor at work

: (((((

Her name is SHUSH.  When I first saw her she was just waddling along smiling and looking around.  The only thing that changed when she saw me looking at her was that her tail started wagging frantically.

She reminded me of yeti, who I got to see yesterday on my day off.

The next time I go over I need to video tape the way she acts when I first get there.  She dances back and forth and is just so excited.  After the initial petting she loses interest in me pretty quickly.  Usually by the end of my visit the only thing that gets her interested is having her picture taken.

She's so happy, I just want to hug her all day long.

bath time for Yeti

Daniel needed the use of my pickup truck (I knew this day would come!) so I decided to dedicate an afternoon of hard labor since I was playing delivery man anyways.  The less exciting part of my day involved a lot of yardwork, although I did learn how to use a weed whacker.  It was only slightly terrifying, I feel with a little more practice I could learn to operate it without having to stop and fix it constantly.

Once I finished my chores I got to the best part of my day.

Haha she hated it!!  : (((

It took me about 30-45 minutes just to get her coat completely wet.  No sooner had I gotten the soap process started when a neighbor dog at the fence sent her bounding away to protect her turf.  You can't catch her off her guard, even during spa day!  Unfortunately the diversion also included a vigorous full body shake which you can imagine set my work back a good 15-20 minutes.  I didn't mind though, I enjoyed my quality time with her.  And I had no idea that the bath part was going to be the easy part.

Then Daniel wheeled out his industrial strength vacuum.

Sure sure, it was still all smiles at this point.  But then the time passed and I was still drying and she was still DRIPPING wet.  But I kept drying, even as day turned to afternoon, I kept drying.  Even after I watched Daniel give Zeejay a bath, and dry him completely, I kept drying.  Even as he got Gypsy up and prepared her for her bath...

Please note the amount of hair on the ground and  consider how much was flying around me and in to my nose, eyes, ears, everywhere.

Daniel kept saying, "You really want to give Yeti a bath?"

I LOVE HER I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR HER.

There were a couple of times where I saw the look in her eye that said, "I could take your head clean off in one bite".  Not unlike the look I'm giving Daniel in that picture.

Paris is nice

As has been the custom the past few days Paris no longer greets me at the door.  I'm guessing she was tired of being let down by me not being Heather.  Now it's just Mia, but at least now I know where to find Paris.

In her quiet corner.

she's so happy!! : (

I found this video on reddit after seeing this picture:

Apparently they sent her a gift basket of beggin strips as a response to the video.

: (

I love her.

she says, "BYE BEN"

"I'm angry!!"

haha : (

I was leaving for work the other morning and turned around to lock my door when I came face to face with this nice lady.

She always looks at me like she's never seen me before in her life.

I like her.

a special visitor

Things have remained crazy at work, much to my dismay.  The only thing that made today bearable was getting to meet this fancy lady.

She was so funny, it was as if she didn't see anybody or anything else besides her owner.  Her owner kept trying to make her pose for my picture but she wanted nothing to do with it.  She just kept looking up at her owner and smiling and being nice.

More customers like this please.

its going to be a good weekend

When Linden asked me if I would mind watching Chloe for a few days while she was in the Keys I did not hesitate.  Look at her face!

: (((((

I have seriously been so excited all week for this.

When I picked her up I wasn't sure where she'd want to be for the car ride.  Apparently she just wanted to be asleep.

I seriously can't with how adorable she is.  I am afraid I am going to damage the muscles in my face by having my bottom lip curled under all weekend.

When I got home the detective was nowhere to be found.  Before I had left I asked him if he was excited to have a friend visiting for the weekend and he said, "no that sounds terrible, I hate you" before climbing on to one of the top shelves in my closet and falling asleep.  So I guess I was not surprised to find him still hiding when we arrived this afternoon.

He was still curled up in the same spot I had left him but now I could see his two glowing eyes in the darkness and his ears perked up to the max.  Chloe was snuffling around the apt so I called her over so he could see her first, from the shadows, as I know he'd prefer it.

I wanted to be here for their first interactions to make sure nothing terrible happened, but I really needed to go to the grocery store and I couldn't wait all day for the detective to finally come down from his perch.  I decided to go ahead but to try and make it a quick grocery run.

When I got home I wasn't quite sure what to expect as I opened the door.  You can imagine my reaction when I found them both sitting in the doorway together waiting for me.

: ((((((((((((

They are best best friends.

I am not getting anything done this weekend.

a very special lady

Last night I was granted the esteemed privilege of spending some time with this fancy lady.

: ((((

She was so nice and didn't want to be bothered with anything besides smiling and being nice.  When I would stop petting her she would move her front paws together like she was clapping for more.

: (((((

I LOVE HER.

And the best part of all is her name...

Sparkles.

What else could it be?

Thank you Nicole for inviting me in to your home and sharing the gift of Sparkles with me.

memorial weekend pool party

I was planning on going to the beach yesterday but when Heather mentioned a pool party I realized it was the perfect opportunity to wear my U.S.A. tank top.  What I never could have imagined was the whirlwind afternoon that was in store for me.

Heather's friends Rocky and Laurie live in this cool building, pictured above, thats in downtown Ft. Lauderdale.  Besides a handful of people who came from Miami (yes, that's right work friends, there are people who will come all the way up to Ft. Lauderdale from Miami) it seemed like most of the people hanging out by the pool were other residents of the building.  It was so fun, there's a part of me that would love to live in a building like this.

Then again, if I ever got as wasted as Heather I don't know that I would want all of my neighbors to see at once.  I'm not saying Heather was terrible but during the 15 minutes that I left her alone to go upstairs with our new bff Rebecca to get towels this happened:

I still haven't gotten a clear explanation from Heather about this picture.

And little did she know that while she was playing colander boxing with Ali I was upstairs meeting this nice nice lady:

She was so excited and all wiggles and just wanted you to put your face near hers.

: (

A torrential afternoon downpour kind changed the dynamic of the party so Heather and I decided to head home to shower and change.  Heather lured Rebecca over to our neighborhood with the promise of meatballs.  I knew where her mind was and I knew I  wasn't interested in a repeat of this evening so I let them have special girl time.

But thanks to my early night I am up and ready to go today for what is truly, Memorial Day.  So lets go to the beach-each, eh?

why is she sitting like this?!

I was hanging out with Heather this morning when I looked over and saw Mia hanging out on the counter like this.

She just sat there for the entire time we were there and even while I was taking her picture.  I love how it looks like her paws are liquid and are spilling over the edge of the counter.

She's weird.

Breeze!

Meghan sent me this picture she found while shopping for bikes.  What a pleasant surprise this morning!

Breeze and her owner used to come in to the juice bar all the time, it was always a special diversion from work when I'd see her.  Sometimes he would even leave her with us for the day.  Those were the best.  She would usually just sit in your lap while you worked on the computer.

It's crazy that my days with Breeze were so long ago that I didn't even have my blog.  Otherwise I would have totally exploited her adorable face a long time ago.

Regardless, it's nice to see her now again.  Maybe I'll stop by and visit the next time I'm in ny.

Perfection

Fran was just on Live with Kelly and was overall amazing.  Kelly complimented her on her skin which launched her into a good 5 minute segment of Fran's tips for wrinkle prevention.  The best was that after a particularly good beauty secret she would look at the camera and wink.

I wish I were friends with her.

I'm going to try and find the clip of her interview whenever it gets put online.  You have to watch her describe the events that led up to her bringing Ester Drescher to the Oscars as her accessory.  Also, Kelly's reaction when Fran says that Ester has her own jewelry box.  Hahaha.

I couldn't agree more

Andrew sent me this saying that I need to find a friend for the Detective along these lines.

: (

She's so happy.

And she looks like she'd fit right in on south beach.

this precious angel came in to my work

Her name was Layla I think.  She was so well behaved when her owner was holding her but then turned in to a wiggle monster as soon as she was set down.

It took me a really long time to get a good picture but I didn't mind spending extra time with her.

I would like a nice doggy as beautiful as her.

I've missed this place

From the moment I got to the 6 train platform and saw this terrifying ad I've become quite nostalgic for my life in nyc.

My first order of business was getting 9th St. with Meghan before heading downtown to get my haircut.  The best part about having Christina cut my hair is that I get to hang out with precious angels like dolly while I'm there.

She did not help my wanting a little dog problem.

She did not help at all.

And this other bundle of joy made me miss the detective and reminded me that I should really get a little doggy to be his friend because it clearly makes her VERY happy:

Once Meghan and I finished with all our chores we did the only thing we could think of to warm ourselves.  Jam our faces with delicious pizza.

If I lived as close to motorino as Meghan does I don't think I would eat anything else.

Otherwise our day/night last night was pretty lowkey.  I got to accomplish a long held life goal of getting Meghan and Laura together and it was magical.  I think my favorite was when I reminded Laura of the time some girl threw up on her in the subway and Meghan's face lit up as she exclaimed, "that was you?!"

Unfortunately it was far too cold for any of us to have the energy to pull an all nighter so we eventually parted ways.  It was nice anyways because I got to hang out with Sam a bit when he came home from work and before we all passed out.

I'm not sure what all today will have in store for me but I do know it will include an encounter with the incomparable Dan D.  I can't wait, I think my hair is finally long enough to have achieved his request that he made so long ago.

For now I've got my long johns on and I'm ready to venture to the outside for some coffee.

two very nice videos

It was a good day for receiving video messages from friends yesterday.  Andrew emailed me this video with the suggestion that it was me and the detective.

It's pretty close except the detective is not nearly that agile.  He opts more for just sticking his butt in my face while I'm in down dog, or flopping down on my mat right where I need to be.  I love the kitty in this video, and I wish that I had a butt that could hold small animals on it.

As if that wasn't enough adorableness Jon sent me this video of his precious lady kitty trying to have a snooze:

I love when Jon says he's sorry hahaha.

: (((

Jon also wanted me to point out that the angel dust on his comforter is some kind of detergent and not blow.

Uh huh.

thank you Joel!!!

Joel took me out to brunch today and surprised me with this book!  I haven't actually read it since I was a kid, though the name has clearly stuck with me.  I'm really excited to reread it now.

I also feel like I need to get a female kitty and name her Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.  I suddenly have so much to do!

Besides being surprised by this gift I was also surprised at brunch by this nice lady:

It was hard to get a good picture as she was extremely interested in a piece of paper that was floating around on the breeze.  I love her and her little hair clips.

Anyways, thanks for the book Joel, and for the kind words.

: )

!!! : ((( !!!

I was at work yesterday when I glanced up and came face to face with this precious precious angel.  Ugggghhhhhhh.

Her name was Lilly and her owner said that she was very sleepy and sad because she just wanted to not be shopping anymore.  I asked if I could take a picture and her owner was like, "oh yes please, she loves the camera, she should look right in to it"

She knows how amazingly adorable she is!!!

: ((((

Even now looking at the pictures I'm going, "awwwww" alone in my apt.

the best thing that happened to me all day

One of my coworkers said she thought this woman was carrying around a giant wig.

This was the nicest little doggy you could ever hope to see.  She literally just laid there like a little baby, just looking around and smiling and not bothering anybody.  Her owner was holding her like that with one arm while she shopped with the other.

When I asked if I could take her picture her owner said, "sure, she loves the attention".

HOW DOES SHE EVEN KNOW THAT SHE'S GETTING ATTENTION?!?!

Ugggghhhh I want a nice doggy just like her : (

a large nice lady

Jonathan made one of my dreams come true last night by taking me to the Cheesecake Factory on Los Olas, but it was this nice lady who surprised both of us.  Apparently she is an Austrian Great Dane and also one of the happiest gentle giants I've ever had the pleasure to dine next to.

She seriously just walked around smiling at people and getting in the way of the waiters who were too scared to try and move her out of the way.

I want to cuddle with her!  : (
