I like this vet

I was a little early for my hair cut so I stopped in at the veterinarians office a few doors down to inquire about a groomer for the detective.  I discovered some matted hair the other day which means he's going to get a lions cut again.

The groomer the girl at the vet's office recommended had a thing right on his card that he doesn't use sedatives, so I knew it was meant to be.  If we go on a trip back in time 4 years to this post we remember that the detective does not do well with tranquilizers.  We also curl up in the corner and cry softly for a few hours while thinking about how old we are.

But that's neither here nor there.  The point is that I really liked this veterinarian and will schedule an appt for the detective to get a check up as soon as I get a day off.  I mean, look at the goldfish in the waiting room:

That's like the goldfish version of the detective.

sorry, two weeks

For what its worth I took that picture on Friday after I finished my morning oil pulling, I just never found time to post it.

I've been having all kind of issues in life lately.  For one, I am too obsessed with app games for my iphone so now I have zero storage space available.  I can only take two or three photos before it's too full, and I've deleted everything else possible besides the games that I would lose all my progress in if I got rid of them.   Obviously that isn't happening.

So until I get an ipad to feed my addiction it's going to be hard for me to take photos for my blog.  Of course before I get an Ipad I will have to become comfortable with the idea that I am actually going to commit to owning an iphone, ipad, air, and imac.  And just so I can keep playing candy crush.

In other news, yesterday was supposed to be my last day at the boutique, before starting at my new job on Monday.  Instead I ended up getting called in to work all day today, meaning I get no break before starting my week of "training".  The most annoying part of this week of training is that all of my days are only really a few hours, so even though I will have to be there every single day, I won't even be able to look forward to a paycheck that's any more substantial than usual.  And I'm going to have to waste five days worth of black outfits on nothing.  I really need to get dressed in my suit to sit at a computer terminal and learn about how to use the cash register?

If I can make it through this week I obviously need to reward myself with an ipad.  And also, imagine how white my teeth are going to be when training is all done!

I'm getting this

Ugh so glorious, and I love that it's actually on my almost exact truck.  Of course, that one is far fancier than mine, you can tell because it has the luxurious rear window feature.  I think it's my biggest regret that I didn't notice mine didn't have that, although there is something retro and fun about the solid glass pane behind me.

The point is, I want this airbrushed portrait on my tailgate.  Jon had the same idea I did of replacing the charging horses with pictures of the detective.  I do like that idea, or maybe the detective with a whole posse of street cats.

Whatever the case, I'm glad to be thinking on a bigger scale than I had previously considered.  Yesterday I thought I knew what I wanted to decorate my car with when I saw this:

Now that I've seen the beautiful galloping mustangs I'm thinking maybe I should get the whole tailgate painted with three golden retrievers in a red sedan.  Maybe add the detective in?

Too many possibilities, maybe the first step is to find an artist I trust who can do the work on my car, then get them to do some sketches so I can get a better idea of what kinds of beautiful things can actually be done.  I mean, if there's a way we can do a collage that opens the door to adding Mariah in there somehow...

I've had this song stuck in my head since it came on at the beach with Jon and Joe.  I figured it's been a while since I posted any Mariah so I would gift you all with this, one of my favorite songs.

I can't believe there is no video or live recording of it, such a shame.

oil pulling: one week

I don't know, maybe they look a little more white?

Yesterday I got back from break and discovered I didn't have any gum left.  Gala had brought easter robin's egg candies so I had two to try and mask the smell of my lunch.  The first thing Gala said when I came out on to the floor was, "why are your teeth blue".

It must have been some kind of reaction, Is this a thing?  Are my teeth going to absorb any dyes they come in contact with?  That could be problematic.

nice doggies

As part of my incredible FIVE DAYS OFF IN A ROW I wanted to make sure I made time to see all the nice doggies.  I tried to take as many pictures as I could and got a few nice ones.  

I liked that guy.  He came and stood next to me and made that wary expression the whole time.  When my hands weren't busy petting anybody he would gently but firmly place his paw on my arm and pull my hand over so I could pet him.  All the while staying constantly vigilant.  So nice.

I got some quality Yeti time in, which means letting her sniff deep deep within my ears, as well as petting her while she walks in circles around me.

And Zeus!  He's much more like a normal dog after a few weeks of training.  He still wasn't particularly friendly with me but he at least let me pet him which was more than the last time.

Usually once I'm outside I just hang out as Daniel takes each group of dogs back inside to their area, and lets a new round out to play.  I tried to capture the moment all the little dogs were coming running out but they were TOO CRAZY!!  At least I could handle it better than the greyhounds who were SO excited to see me they felt the need to charge at me full speed.  If need help imagining why that's faintly terrifying I'll just remind you their average speed is 35 mph.

The little dogs on the other hand are just adorable.

Of course after a day of seeing the nice doggies I always have to come home and spend some time appreciating that cat.  He gets very jealous otherwise.

last picture before oil pulling

I'd heard about oil pulling before, probably back in my hardcore hippy days, but I've been obsessed with it recently since it popped up on radar and I read an article about it online.  Basically the idea is you swish coconut oil around in your mouth for 20 minutes in the morning and it's supposed to have a myriad of different health benefits.  It seemed across the board that people experienced teeth whitening so I figured, even if that's all that happens, it would still be worth it.

I finally went to whole foods today and picked up some unrefined coconut oil and did my first session just now.  I have to say, it was kind of gross, there were a few moments during the 20 minutes that I got freaked out.  I think I may have used too much oil too, I hadn't considered that the volume increases as your own saliva gets added to the disgusting mix.

But I made it and am excited to incorporate this in to my routine.  I'm going to try to take a picture of my teeth every friday so we can tell if there is actually any whitening going on.

Needless to say I got lots of compliments today.  And you know how I love compliments.

It was a good day.

finally having my birthday champagne

Jon and Joe actually managed to get on a flight down here so I finally had an excuse to open my bottle of champagne that Gala got me for my birthday.

Though their time here is short I feel it was important in cementing the idea that they need to move down here.

Going out tonight before I take them back to the airport in the morning.

its just SO bright

The problem is he spends the whole night running around like a crazy maniac and howling for no reason, so come morning he is just EXHAUSTED.  But the daylight is obviously just too much for him.  I am very cruel for not covering my windows in heavy velvet drapes all day.

And yes, I'm aware that his fur keeps changing colors.  I don't know what's going on with that.

daily reminder x2

The black one is parked in that spot every day so I look at it on my way in to work...every day.  Today it was joined by the silver one.  Crazy that they are both the same exact year as mine.

I also like that they are both handicapped parkers.  Of course they are.

I miss that car.

two nice guys

I don't know if you can even see them in the window but the other night on my run I passed this house and spotted two white cats in the front window.  At first I thought they were sculptures or something until they reacted to me stopping to look at them.  They were definitely on serious evening patrol.

I would have taken a better picture but I felt weird creeping around a strangers house at night with my phone taking photos.

Meghan got me this morning and I almost forgot to ever do my post for today, can't believe it's already March.  Curse February and it's lack of days.

I was going to post a Barbie picture in addition to my "all my friends are dead" calendar that I got from Daniel because my sister actually got me a 2014 Barbie calendar too.  Unfortunately it's not all new Barbie's so I was only going to post when it was a new Barbie I hadn't posted before.  For some reason I thought this month was the first one but it's not.
