to my time off

I keep having false starts on my day off.  I only get a couple of hours in before I get a call asking me to come in.  For some reason this song popped in to my head as an ode to my time off.

I am usually holding myself and swaying gently in the beach grass when I get the call from Gala asking me to cover.

At least I can look forward to some time off in the coming days.  I am even supposed to have a date with Carlos to go look at a car in Ft. Lauderdale that he wants to buy.  One of the perks of being the few left who know how to drive stick shift.

And the silver lining of having to go to work is that I was able to get Heather's birthday present now that employee appreciation finally started at work.  All of my coworkers were extremely envious when they saw what I got her.

It will be a fun few days off for sure.

moon over Miami

As expected it is hard to capture the magnificence of the moon with a cell phone camera.  Still, you get the idea.

It was so big and so close in the sky when I was driving home from work I thought it was some giant illuminated structure on the horizon.  When I finally figured out it was the moon I knew I had to go for a run before bed so I could see it better.

Beach moon running, I highly recommend it.

don't touch my stuff

I got really close to the wall today.

Getting out and seeing just how obnoxious I look always makes me think of this:

Still, there are no dings in my doors.

I didn't know

Usually Heather is very particular with her instructions on the girls care, so when she said she needed me to check on them on Thursday I took it to mean, check on them on Thursday.

Apparently Thursday was just day one and I was supposed to have continued checking on them.

My b.

They have a steady supply of water, they were fine.  It was just a two day mini fast.  They look leaner already.  Almost ready for bikini season!

When they finally finished gorging themselves they made some rude gestures in my direction before retreating in to the shadows.  I hope one day they will learn to forgive me.

this just keeps getting more and more bizarre

While I was out today I got an email saying that I had overdrawn my account which was annoying.  I tried to log on to the wells fargo website but it wouldn't load on my phone.  I decided to just wait until I got home to try and do it on my computer.

When I get home there is a package underneath my front door mat (not exactly the best hiding place but whatever).  I open it up to find Mack.  Mack is a gift as a thank you for opening up a new account.  This makes me nervous, coming on the same day as I unexpectedly overdraw my account.

So I go to the website but it won't even load from my computer.  Now I'm getting worried and decide it's time to call.

The first operator I got was not very helpful.  She seemed personally hurt that I wasn't grateful to have received a plush pony at all, and didn't seem to grasp why it made me think somebody was dipping in to my cookie jar.  I finally had to ask to be transferred to somebody else, who after hearing my explanation of events promptly took off the overdraft charges.

Then we get to the issue of the stuffed horse.  The first operator had only offered the suggestion that I had originally opened a Wachovia account and so this was my welcome to Wells Fargo since my account got transferred about a year ago.  But then why wouldn't they have sent it a year ago?  Why does it happen to come now right at the same time as I am overdrawing my account.

When I asked these questions to the second operator she immediately asks, "is it a white horse or a brown horse?"  It really caught me off guard.  When I told her brown she says, "Oh a brown horse!  You must have made an impression on somebody at the bank".

I'm still not convinced this is the case and am waiting for the website to come back up so I can check my account history, but if it is just a gift, that's kind of weird too.  She even commented that she had a white horse on her desk but that the brown ones were special for the holidays so it must have been somebody at the bank when I went in last December.

So either my account got hacked or I have a secret admirer at Wells Fargo.

I forget it's winter

While Jon sent me texts and pictures of how freezing cold it is up north, John and I headed to the beach down here.  It was nice, but I can't wait for the summer when it's nice all day.  By the time we actually got out there the sun was already going down and it was getting cooler.

We left the beach and went to the roof to enjoy the last bit of sun for the day.

It was definitely more windy up there but the sun was still warm enough to make it comfortable for another hour or so.

All in all I have no complaints about spending a day in late January doing this.

lunch with Doc

I am broke in part because of encouragement from Daniel to buy those sunglasses on sale last week, so he graciously took me out to lunch today.  The good part was that he brought Doc along, the bad part is that it's the last time I will get to spend the day with him as he will be going to his new home permanently in the next couple days.

I am going to miss him : (

Haha!  I like how he's funny and nice : (

The only thing that makes it ok is knowing that he will be well loved and appreciated in his new home, and that he will be helping somebody who needs him.  Still, I'm going to miss that face.

it had to be too good to be true

Thank you Jojo for sending me that article about how she lip synched her performance yesterday.  I knew her facial expressions were too over the top to be legit.

I would just like to take this opportunity to post this:

I love how once she does the whistle everything else is so nonchalant.

take a long ride in the mercedes

Last week at Starbucks they accidentally made me two venti iced coffees so I thought I would have double the fun for my work day.  I put my second coffee in the back seat cup holder and totally forgot about it.  It wasn't until I was parking that I looked back and saw the empty spot where my coffee had once been.

I found the cup on the floor of my backseat, and some coffee residue on the carpet but otherwise was baffled by where my coffee had gone.  Apparently there are drains underneath the seats, and thank goodness for that.  It's those kinds of things that make it a Mercedes Benz.

Anyways, the point is, I ended up having to make an appointment to get the carpets shampooed in order to rid my car of the rancid smell of old soy milk.  The only available time they had was this morning, ironically the day before my judgement day.

So I got it all cleaned, top to bottom, inside and out, and now I can hopefully go the next six months without spilling anything, tearing anything, or otherwise getting in trouble.

To celebrate I made John take me on a pleasure cruise in it tonight.  One last time before it will only be able to be driven by me.

Not looking forward to tomorrow.

she's so happy!! : (

I found this video on reddit after seeing this picture:

Apparently they sent her a gift basket of beggin strips as a response to the video.

: (

I love her.

I heard so much about it

I had to work today so I didn't get to see the festivities live but I heard a lot of chatter about Beyonce.

I liked it, she did good, a little dramatic with the facial expressions but then it is Beyonce.  For some reason the whole time I was watching this I kept thinking about how it's the same person who did this:

it rained all day

Ok, I'll say it, there isn't much to do in South Florida on a rainy day.

This is the activity I came up with for today.  I literally cleared my shelves and started from scratch.  It took me all day.

That top shelf doesn't look like it's enjoying the weight of jeans, pants, shorts, long sleeve t-shirts, and sweaters.  I have to put my valuable up high though or else the detective climbs up and shoves everything off the shelf to make room for his daily nap.  At least now he's limited to shoes, underwear, and pajamas to stomp all over.

Now the question is do I continue with my cleaning streak and attempt to tackle the bathroom or do I call it a day and enjoy the rest of my Saturday night?

this makes me cry

The best part of putting my itunes on random of my whole library is that I am reminded of things like this.

For some reason I have the album from this whole performance, which features a lot of hilarious sketches.  This one however just always makes me happy and sad at the same time.

"I call it a film, NOT a movie"

which do you prefer?

They are having a mad employee appreciation sale at work right now and I do actually need sunglasses.  The question is, do I stick to the old standard and get aviators or should I trust Sarah's choice and get these:

I ended up getting the aviators but I have until Monday to trade them in for the others.  I just don't know if I can really pull them off.

Thoughts?

It's been a while

Or maybe I've just gotten immune to it and no longer even notice.

But this morning there was no ignoring it.  The blount was staring me straight in the face.

He made me laugh

I pulled up next to him in traffic the other night and he was just looking at me and smiling.

I want a nice doggy to ride around with me like that.

Maybe when Jon and Joe move down they will let me take Zeus around for rides in the car.  He's be the perfect doggy for my passenger seat.

the possibilities are endless

I finally found a decent cheap black cardigan (at H&M of course) which opened up my wardrobe for work by like ten times.  The rule is that we have to be wearing black pants and a black top, but if we're wearing a black blazer or sweater, we can wear white or baby blue underneath.  While they did send me and amazing black blazer, I don't feel like I own anything that looks appropriate underneath it besides the white button down they sent.

But now that I have a cheapo cardigan I can wear all my cheapo dress shirts.  And bowties!!

Oh the accessories I shall wear.  It will be a glorious new age for me at work.

my dream valentine

Thank you Amelise for directing me to this story coming out of my home turf.

So his court date is on valentines day?  Sounds like the premise for a wacky romantic comedy.  Involving wedgies of course.

And in case you haven't been following along, this is just another reason why I love Florida.

it got me both ways

Wow, so I am just getting home from work and I am heading out on a run but I decided that before I was allowed to I had to do a blog post.  I knew I had missed a day, I didn't realize I had missed two whole days.

That's bad.

My only excuse is that I've been working all day and have nothing else of interest to talk about.  Clearly, since the post that I was going to do was about how I got stopped by the drawbridge on my way to work and again on my way home.

I also saw a baby at work with an adorable grumpy face.

Otherwise, I've got nothing.  I bought some socks and underwear today.  Thrilling, I know.

Maybe while I'm on this run I will have an amazing brain storm for something to post.  It has happened before, it could happen again.  Since those pictures are from yesterday I can kind of justify it as long as I still do another post before midnight.  Then I will have only sort of missed one day.  I had every intention of posting the drawbridge pictures yesterday I just got distracted when I got home and forgot.

Blame kitty.  Ooh, kitty.  If nothing else, maybe I will exploit him later for attention.  As I'm typing this he is pushing books off my coffee table.  Clearly he is in need of some attention anyways.

rude

I feel bad for how much I like my new iphone, especially for how much I rolled my eyes at Ariel when she got hers and couldn't ever put it down.

The screenshots are glorious.

And Jon and I did FaceTime last night.

That's not me freezing the screen while he's talking just to be a jerk, that's one of the many faces he made continuously throughout the conversation because he was looking at himself the entire time.

It wasn't not entertaining.

The ones he took of me were decidedly more rude.

Lesson learned, always remain camera-ready when doing FaceTime with Jon.

she says, "BYE BEN"

"I'm angry!!"

haha : (

I was leaving for work the other morning and turned around to lock my door when I came face to face with this nice lady.

She always looks at me like she's never seen me before in her life.

I like her.

he made it easier

I think we look more alike now.

Haha that first one!!  : (

I like how he's so happy.

let's go to the beach-each

So for my birthday I finally joined the 21st Century and got an iphone.  Whoaoaaoaoaoa.

I love the panorama feature.  You can expect plenty more of these pics.

I also love my new haircut.

It only took half a lemon to saturate it completely!! Half!!  And I didn't have to bring any hair ties with me!!

It's truly wonderful.  I'm nervous to go to work tomorrow.  I'm already used to it and have forgotten, so when I ran in to one of my neighbors just now it caught me off guard that she was so startled.  Or when I went to Starbucks this morning and one of my favorite barista's was just standing there with her mouth open when she saw me hahaha.

It's going to be a full day of that tomorrow.  I can't wait!

: )

I really did it

I love how pleased Toni looks in this photo.  She was too!  She had my hair cut off within minutes of me sitting down in her chair.  Which was good because otherwise I'm sure I would have thrown up and called the haircut off.

But I knew I was in good hands, and so with several unsettlingly loud hacks I said goodbye to most of my 20's.

So blond, so beautiful.  Looking at it like that it doesn't look like my hair.  It really looks like barbie hair.

I was glad that Daniel came with me for moral support, and brought Gunner with him.  He felt that a fellow blond could help comfort me.  He was correct.

But after the initial shock of the ponytail cut, the rest of the haircut was fun.  The world was my oyster for styling.  When Toni asked me what I had in mind I pulled up the google image search page for Zack Morris and said, "something like this".

I am pleased with the results.

I have been enjoying running my fingers through it, although it's odd because I instinctively go to pull it in to a ponytail in the back only to find nothing there.  Otherwise I've kind of forgotten that I ever had long hair already.  It's nice to be back to boy hair.

Daniel took more pics of the actual hair cut process, will hopefully be posting those soon along with the last pictures ever taken of my long hair by our friend Lee.  In the meantime I am going to bed early tonight so I can get up tomorrow and go to the beach.  My fresh hair is definitely not the summer blond that I'm used to.

for the new year

Jon got me a new calendar!!!!

We actually went to the calendar store together and he let me pick it out.  It was a hard decision between "fat cats" and "women in waders" but I think I made the right decision.

It's going to be a good January.

birthday beach booty

I even managed to get some color before the storm clouds rolled in.

Now we're showering and getting ready to go get Jonathan his Christmas present.  Yay!!

being sick on my birthday

UGH

At least Jonathan is here to take care of me and do madlibs with me.

he was nice

This woman today at work asked me if I could connect her to another store.  I told her I could look up the number on my phone and she could use our phone to call and she was very appreciative saying, "thank you so much, I forgot everything at home".

Pointing to the little face sticking out of her stroller I said, "you didn't forget that precious angel".

That's all it took for her to take him out of his stroller exclaiming, "he won't like you if you pet him in there but watch what he does when I put him on the floor!"

If you're wondering what he does, as I was, the answer is that he runs around in circles really fast, only stopping to cuddle with me or her.

haha : (

I like him.

At first I could only get random pictures when he would stop long enough to gaze up at her.

But once I gave her the phone and she was distracted I got a few better shots of him.

I like how he was nice.

I was sad when she put him back in his stroller and left.  It was early in the morning too, so the rest of the day was a real drag in comparison.

I'm excited for tomorrow!!  Jon said it's like 10 degrees up there.  This was the temperature here when I was leaving work:

Perfect weather for Santa's Enchanted Forest!

I can relate

I saw this today at the apple store.  Yes, it's a child asleep on the counter of the genius bar.

At first I wondered how he could sleep with all of the commotion around him, but then after thinking on it for a bit, realized that there but for the grace of God went I.

Thankfully I managed to make it home without falling asleep, but I know dreamland is not far away.  I'm opening tomorrow, I'm using that as my excuse for why I'm already thinking about bed at 7:50 at night.

Again, at least I didn't fall asleep on the counter at the apple store.

rabbit rabbit rabbit

I have neither a barbie picture, nor a rabbit picture to post.  When I google searched for "barbie rabbit" I got Jessica Rabbit, so I went with it.

I'm excited that all this Christmas and new years nonsense is out of the way so I can get ready for my birthday!!!  I had intended to go yesterday to get my early birthday present of a new phone but I got sidetracked with other things, so it looks like its going to be another couple of days of challenging picture taking.

I'll do my best to keep up with 2013 though.  I'll just have this in repeat for the month of January, for inspiration:
