I'm glad I don't sell swimwear
Walking through the store yesterday I came upon this display in the swim section. I don't think I want to know.

a day of beauty
The detective and I both had appointments to get our hair cut today, he was not as relaxed as he could have been. This was his first time riding in my mini and I was surprised that he stayed in my lap the entire time. Usually he creeps and crawls around the footwell area whenever he goes for car rides.
I take the detective to a guy named Mario who refers to him as his baby. Mario's english isn't the best so when the haircut was over this was the text I got:
I think he meant "baby is ready". I hope that's what he meant. There seems to be some things lost in translation between us. I did not intend for the detective to get a lion cut today but when he emerged from his carrier he was several pounds lighter than I expected. I feel bad, like I should have gotten my head shaved in solidarity.

the hustler of AC
Someone had to be cause it certainly wasn't me. Apparently I was getting in trouble for taking pictures but I didn't care. It was worth it for the shot.
The wedding was nice, it was full of teary eyed moments. It was also weird to see so many people from college, like a reunion in disguise.
And just like that I'm done with my travel. Nothing on the horizon besides getting back in to my routine. I'm excited for the new View today before work and then tomorrow will be Laura's first day.
Oh I will also pay my first car payment next week, so there's that to look forward to too. -__-

somebody get him a recording contract
Thank you Jonathan for sending this to me.
I'm curious where he is that only a few people even realize that he's the one singing. I wonder if he just saw a karaoke set up and was like, "Hey record me singing this".
I was bracing myself for the high notes but they were all there. I'm impressed.

ikea trip
My Saturday off was threatened by stormy weather and sober september, so when Joe asked if I wanted to go to Ikea I jumped at the chance. Not that I really have disposable income right now but I always enjoy a trip to Ikea.
Of course I ended up getting a few things but I managed to get out of there without spending more than $100. The most important was new pillows for my couch as I ruined my old pillow by trying to put it through the wash. Speaking of Ikea durability, when I tried to rip the tag off of one of my new pillows I definitely almost ripped it completely in half. Thankfully the pillowcase holds it together enough that you'd never know.
Of course, once I commit to swiping my card I go ahead and get a few extra random things that I totally don't need. Like a new rug for the detective:
What was I thinking getting a rug that he blends in with so effortlessly? I've already tripped over him several times, especially because he ALWAYS HAS TO BE LAYING ON IT.
My final impulse purchase, literally right before we got to the register, was these clip together teak tiles:
They don't fit perfectly in my shower but they still look pretty cool if I do say so myself. I'm curious to see if they get super disgusting or not. The teak should be fine but the base of them is plastic which I'm scared it just asking to get soap scum build up. Either way it was $30 for a pack of them so I think it was worth it. It definitely makes my shower seem more fancy than it is.
And my apt looks a little bit more homey, just in time for me to figure out where I'm moving next.

so shiny
It looks so nice after a car wash!! It just doesn't last very long before the water spots start showing up.
But I enjoy it while it lasts.

omg I'm dying
This old post came up as one of my most viewed posts for the past month so I decided to take a trip down memory lane and read it. I had completely forgotten that Benita's daughter commented on my post!
I replied to her but never heard anything more. I'm guessing that her using the name "Trinky" means she understands the amazingness of her name.
Also, I had completely forgotten about Oreo Lowkey, Colin Cooch, and lemon squid. Sharon Babylacqua still gets passed around between Jon and me every once in a while. When I think of new favorite names of ours the immediate thing that comes to mind is Maryann Pantyliner, the name Jon gave some woman in a dream he had. Upon hearing it she started crying, as anyone would. Otherwise, I don't think we've had any names near as exciting come about in s long time.
I'm going to keep my ears open.
galaxy nails
It was painfully slow at work so I was extra excited when I spotted these talons.
She said she did them herself! I can't imagine having such a steady hand.
In other news, I drove ALL the way to work in green mode. And I drove ALL the way home in sport...

rabbit rabbit rabbit
After all the excitement of August I'm looking forward to a more frugal September. Besides my weekend trip to Atlantic City next week I have no intention of spending money on ANYTHING. And then October is a three paycheck month!
Good timing for Sober September too, last year it was really scary to see how much further my money went without spending anything on booze. I don't even feel like I drink that much, it's just that I get drinks when I'm out at dinner or whatever. I would probably save more buy buying in bulk and drinking alone at home but then I would really have to question my choices.
I started Sober September a little early because I think I'm going to take cheat days in Atlantic City. Otherwise, I am looking forward to drying out for the next 30 days. I have a feeling I'll end up more like this by the end of the month:
As if I weren't already...
