rabbit rabbit rabbit

After all the excitement of August I'm looking forward to a more frugal September.  Besides my weekend trip to Atlantic City next week I have no intention of spending money on ANYTHING.  And then October is a three paycheck month!

Good timing for Sober September too, last year it was really scary to see how much further my money went without spending anything on booze.  I don't even feel like I drink that much, it's just that I get drinks when I'm out at dinner or whatever.  I would probably save more buy buying in bulk and drinking alone at home but then I would really have to question my choices.

I started Sober September a little early because I think I'm going to take cheat days in Atlantic City.  Otherwise, I am looking forward to drying out for the next 30 days.  I have a feeling I'll end up more like this by the end of the month:

As if I weren't already...

almost have a new car

Of course this is the dealership I ended up getting my car from.  The mini/bmw/bentley/rolls royce dealership of Miami.

I was originally looking at mini's in Ft. Lauderdale where it was respectably the mini/bmw dealership.  Mini was still on the low end but given that the dealership one town north is the mini/volkswagen dealership I didn't have any reason to expect that Miami would be this big of a price jump.  They wouldn't even valet park my truck!

My awesome sales guy Rodney came in special just for me even though it was his day off so while I waited for him I decided to check out their inventory.  Somehow I had been so dazzled by the super cars I completely overlooked this:

Allegedly it belonged to a stripper.  The pink is covering white.  It is definitely a hot car, I just think I would stick with the white.  Almost everyone I showed it to has loved it, and I've been surprised by the people who think I would actually have bought that for myself.  I bet it smells like Britney Spears perfume inside.

I did sign all the paperwork for my new ride while I was there, unfortunately there were too many pieces of the puzzle that had to fall in to place before I can drive it away.  In the meantime, my truck continues to give me trouble, making me feel totally justified in spending WAY TOO MUCH MONEY on a really awesome new car.  But really, just knowing that I can get myself to work and back is worth it.

My fantasy is that I will be able to take ownership of my new car tomorrow but I have a feeling it will more likely be Friday morning.  Tomorrow morning will be consumed with transferring the title of my truck to Daniel before I have to be at work at 9.

These days are an extreme test in patience.  As if I haven't been thinking about this and planning it for long enough, to be so close to the end is driving me nuts.  Special thanks to Joe and Daniel for giving me rides to work in the meantime.

Speaking of, I need to go to bed.  It won't be long before Daniel is rapping at my chamber door.

I miss them already : (

Back from Boston and I am missing Zeus and Penny terribly.

The wedding was beautiful and I was honored to be a part of the party.  It was also really fun to meet so many different people from Jon's life that I had only ever heard about or seen in pictures.  Like his niece Olivia!!  Ugghhh, she is so adorable, literally smiling and happy about EVERYTHING.

And then I made a lot of new and unexpected friends as well.  Like Joe's mom, who by the end of the night was dragging me by my tie to the dance floor.  Or Louis' parents who were hilariously english and fantastic.  I rode with them from the house to the venue and we were supposed to be following the others.  As we were getting situated we saw them pull away from the curb and down the street to which Lesley exclaimed, "Well they're off like a prom dress!"

Besides the wedding it was great to just get out of town for a few days.  It's been almost two years since I've flown anywhere or been away from work for more than three days.  I was reminded of the person I used to be and the life I used to have.

When I got home from the airport I took a shower and intended to go to the grocery store but my truck wouldn't start.  I have an appointment for this afternoon with Rodney at the Miami Mini dealership.  Will keep you posted.

Of all the reasons I'm super excited to get a new car I think the best thing will be having a sound system that works.  As you may recall my radio in the truck has a tendency to fall out of the dashboard when I go over a particularly large speed bump.  And to have speakers that work 100% of the time?  Oh it will be amazing.

Special thanks to Zeus for deep cleaning my ears every chance he got for 4 days:

I can enjoy my new sound system to the fullest!  And you know what I'll be listening to for the inaugural drive.

what time is it you ask?

Why it's the dentist's favorite time, of course.

I may have gone a little overboard with the retail therapy.  I am afraid that I am not going to be signing any leases on any mini coopers this month, so I decided to drown my new car savings in to the employee appreciation sale.  I got so many goodies, but none more beautiful than my new watch.

So many dials and buttons.  and it goes with my bracelet so well.  And lesson learned from the last time, I will treat this one with extra care.  At least their amazing customer service worked, I ended up spending more on the replacement than I had on the original.

Let's not talk about how much more, but I will say that all I need is one more piece of bling on my wrist and I will have more on my left hand than the ranger is worth.

Priorities.

rabbit rabbit rabbit (a day late)

Haha, I like that guy, he's got the right idea.

I can't believe I missed my rabbit rabbit rabbit post yesterday.  Especially since I got Meghan and June early in the morning.  I got home from work and went for a run, my intention being to do this post when I got back, but clearly I forgot.  Between tropical storm Arthur and my complete exhaustion I gave up on participating in real life by about 9:00 last night.

But anyways, happy July.

I don't kill every plant, but I can definitely remember a few that resembled that guy.  Poor planty.  My goal for July is going to be this:

I just need the planets to align for a single day for me to justify signing the paperwork on this bad boy.  Hopefully July will have a day that I'm off, my bank account is filled to the brim, and I have a have a sense of job security.  So far I've only had two of those three things happen at a time, but I've got a good feeling about July.

rabbit rabbit rabbit

Meghan already got me this morning but so far that's it.  I could use some good luck this month.  Also, thank you for sending me this:

He's got the right attitude.

I didn't end up doing anything about a car, yesterday was the day if I were going to.  I woke up yesterday at 8:30 but went back to sleep and didn't get up again until 1 in the afternoon, missing the appt I had at Volkswagen.  I took it as a sign from the universe that I wasn't that excited about it if I slept through my appt.

So I'm back at square one.  The good news is that I can play Mariah's new cd in my truck so that takes some of the pressure off to make a hasty decision.  Still, I would love to hear it on an amazing sound system.

But even if I were to order the mini cooper of my dreams I would have to wait 6-8 weeks for it to be delivered, aint nobody got time for that.  At the beginning of last month I looked at the calendar page and wondered how different things were going to be once I got to the final days.  I was right to predict change, but I had no idea what was in store for me.  As I look at the calendar for this month I'm a little more optimistic about how things will unfold.  And I like the theme for this month, so I'm taking that as a good sign.

Middle of the week day off

So I finally got to visit Yeti in her new home!  The only thing I didn't like was that Daniel doesn't have fresh snow shipped in daily for the backyard, but otherwise it was a very nice home.  And way more comfortable for hanging out than the park.

She wasn't really licking my face, just grossly sniffing at my nose and mouth and rubbing her mouth against me.  Eventually she just kind of sat there pressing her face against mine.

I love her.

After lunch and spending time with the dogs I did a little more window shopping...

Ugggghhhhhh.

seen in Miami

Gala and I were on the phone yesterday talking about serious no fun adult business when all of a sudden she started freaking out, telling me to hold on because she had to take a picture.

Apparently he's a bit of a local celebrity around Miami and Gala didn't want to miss another opportunity to get a picture.  Such a good picture too!

It looks unreal.  How is he so nice that he doesn't just step out of the backseat whenever he wants?

: (((

I want a nice doggy like that.

driving to the airport in style

My sister took me to the airport this morning in her sweet new ride. This is us coming around the curve where 41 and 301 split apart. I love looking out at the boats on the marina and then coming up on the giant mirrored building in downtown sarasota. I also really wanted to highlight the fact that I could do a full panorama view with no obstructions : p

i also love the minnie mouse antenna topper

the best way to cruise around Florida

my sister got a new car and I am incredibly jealous. I mean, it doesn't get much better than a red convertible. She took us on a night drive to the beach that was incredibly fun. So fun in fact that we forgot to actually go to the beach and instead just drove around in a big circle, from south Siesta Key to North Siesta and back. I thought my sister just wanted to show off he sweet ride but apparently she genuinely forgot that we were going to the beach.

In case anybody has any questions about my idiosyncrasies you just need to spend a few hours with my family and suddenly it will all makes sense.
