I swear it's coincidental
So the comparison has been made between me and Smith Jared from Sex and the City in that I have long blond hair and I worked at a raw vegan restaurant. Stina in particular loves to point out the comparison when we're working together.
Well last night we had the grand opening party for the new store and it was hosted by some new liquor company that had set up a little bar area in the back of the store. Much to my displeasure I got stuck in the back of the store, relegated to fitting room duties. Had I not been however, I may not have interacted with the bartenders as much as I did, and they may have never asked me to be a liquor model for them.
I actually didn't think of Smith Jared initially, as soon as I heard "liquor model" I immediately thought of one of my idols, Megan Hauserman from VH1 reality fame:
But truthfully my trajectory is more similar to Smith Jared. I'm kind of disappointed though, I mean, Smith was waaaay less interesting than Megan. And I'd much rather be with Bret Michaels than Kim Cattrall. But I don't know that Megan was ever a liquor model, though she definitely should be.
So I will be happy with being Smith Jared for now. Will keep you posted about my first gig as slutty shot girl!

two dead birds
**This was the #1 image that came up when I searched google for "two dead birds". i have no idea. **
Walking to work this morning was especially funny. Midtown west is always a ghost town on the weekends anyways, but it seemed particularly so this morning, I guess because it's the middle of the holiday weekend. While everyone else was cuddled under the covers with their special some one from the night before, I was hauling my ass through an empty and cold grand central station.
With the lack of people, however, came a lot of interesting findings. I guess I usually commute to work with my eyes on the prize, doing the Naomi Campbell walk like my life depends on it. But today I was able to take a more casual stroll since the streets were empty.
While walking the final leg of my journey from Grand Central to my office I noticed 2 dead birds on the sidewalk. Not together, but one first and then another several blocks later. I thought this was odd. Is this a common thing, are there dead birds all over manhattan and I've just never noticed? Is it like that cheesy playing card thing from Sex and the City? Like a typical new yorker I'm too self absorbed to realize that i'm walking through a sea of bird carcasses. I wouldn't be surprised.
Has anybody else noticed a lot of dead birds lying around?

what are the chances
Yesterday I was walking to work through central park and ran in to meghan on her lunch break. It was so fun, made me think of seinfeld of sex and the city and how it seems so improbable that you would actually run in to somebody you know in a city this big, but you actually do a lot. The way I figure it, you probably pass people you know in traffic just as much in other cities but don't realize it because you are in your car and they are in their car. In nyc when you see somebody there's no escaping. Thankfully it was Meg who I was happy to see and we shared a tender afternoon moment by the main lake in Central Park. I've run in to the strangest people in ny, lots of times I run in to people who don't even life here and I know them from a completely different place. Like the time I was walking home late at night and ran in to Sara with two strange Eastern European men. Or the time I was at a party and my best friend from 2nd grade recognized me after not having seen eachother in like 15 years.
I feel like a lot of people see me and don't say anything, or tell me later that they saw me but I looked busy. I did a photo shoot once and the make up artist asked me if I walk around downtown a lot. I said I worked downtown, so yes I guess I walked to and from the subway and he goes, "yeah, i've seen you walking". I guess it seems strange and not strange at the same time. I'm gonna miss this funny city.
