rabbit rabbit rabbit
Thank you Jonathan for sending me that to use for today. I try to keep a stockpile of rabbit images but I've actually used them all up now. I blame my always working and tending to horrible life chores, it's also why my posting has been so light.
Hopefully soon I will return in all my glory.
I like those two nice guys though, and the campaign makes me think of this:
which is always ok.
I was thinking about this post the other day but didn't make the realization that we were entering February and Valentine's Day. I think I've been more focused on it being Heather's birthday. But now that I remember, and have already had a reason to post a Jhud song, maybe I'll try and do a love song every day for February. Or maybe just every day until Valentine's day.
We'll see, at least I know there are enough love songs to choose from. Maybe I'll start planning them out today. It will give me an excuse to spend time with this month's calendar page:

can you imagine?
To even be asked to sing this song would be crazy but to do it for Whitney? For Whitney who is sitting in the front row giving you inspirational coaching?
I would just die.
I'm glad J-Hud is the consummate performer that she is. I like her version of this song, it's just the right mix of classic and reworked.
Of course J-Hud can do no wrong in my book, but you should still watch the video. It's worth it.
Thank you Jonathan for sending it to me.

it was inevitable
Watching (and re-watching) that video of Jennifer Hudson on diva's live gave me the fever, the diva fever. And there's only one cure for a fever that hot.
I'm sorry, this performance is just too good. The hair, the dress, the crazed look in her eyes, perfection. Since she doesn't do any soprano in this it's easy to forget just how incredibly deep her voice can get compared to when she hits the high notes.
Ugh, so good, I am just alternating between watching this and the Jhud video.

an afternoon with my favorite cheese monger
While waiting for Lilly to meet me I was staring at this corner and trying to figure out why it looked so strange. I finally realized that this was where the Virgin store used to be. What a sign of the times that it's a bank now eh?
It was really nice getting to reconnect with Lilly. Who knew that you could find a flower filled enclave in Union Square to sit and have a juice?
After a thorough discussion of my life and its lack of direction we made our way to Anthropologie where Lilly was looking to burn through a gift card. I think she should have gone with this torture chair:
Perfect for handcuffing a person to, and it's open bottom is perfect for when your victim loses control of their bowels from the torture. I can't imagine what else this chair would be for since it was the least comfortable thing I have ever sat on. And i've sat on some uncomfortable things.
The biggest thing is just that I got to reconnect with an old friend, which I think is really important for me right now. I'm feeling very "I remember me" these days. Or more like "I need to remember me". Too many dumb people trying to make me do things that I don't want to do.
Mmm, I think it's time to have a jam out to J-Hud. Thank's Meghan for giving me the run of your place so I can lip synch in my underwear to my hearts content.

happy birthday fantasia!
I'm so glad dlisted informed me that it was fantasia's birthday as it led me to find this video which just made my morning.
I've known about this song for a while and it's been a favorite since the first time I heard Jennifer say, "expecially", but this is the first time I've seen a video of them doing it live. They are both so ridiculously fun to watch, and I love how they feed off each other's energy. I also just think its fun that they can be friends after their history. I guess they were probably always friends, I'm sure they've never been resentful of the others success.
Of course that's just me projecting the life I want them to have on to them. Who knows what celebrities are really like. All I know is I want to see more videos like the one above.

I'll be anika noni rose
I accept my role in life. I'm ok with being the Kelly Rowland, just as long as I'm not Solange.
The time has come, the winds of change are upon us. I have heard the call and I am answering it. I've no idea where I'm headed or what's to become of me, but I am ready to move onward and upward.
In the meantime I've got to gear myself up for a day of fun with my father. I'll need to watch a few more clips for dreamgirls before I'm even ready to yoga.
You know, in case any of you are sitting around at 8am wishing you had somebody to call and talk to while Jennifer Hudson serenades you in the background.

uh oh pt 3
I've been putting off this post in hopes that I would know what to say if I just slept on it. I still don't know what to do.
Miss Kitty and I have had quite a tumultuous time since last I updated you all. We've learned a lot about each other, we've laughed, we've cried, we've pooped. Especially her. God did she poop.
She's actually been locked in the utility room for the past week or so since she started using poop as a weapon to break me down. The picture above is about the time she started to realize that it was I who would get the last laugh.
I took her to the vet's office where they gave me medicine to help her feel better, amongst other things. The vet's assistant asked me if I had a name for her and I said that I was hesitant to name her because I still don't really want to keep her but I want to go with Mariah Kitty. The vet's assistant made some disparaging remark about how she didn't like that name because she didn't like anything about Mariah Carey at which point Miss Kitty let out a little mew and then pooped all over the vet and his assistant. I have to say I felt very connected to her at that moment. It reminded me of the day the detective came to me and my boss tried to throw him out and the detective clawed him and drew blood.
The best part about Miss Kitty pooping all over the vet was that it meant I didn't have to go home and collect a stool sample. It also meant that I got to wait for about 20 minutes in the waiting room with this nice nice guy:
There was also a girl cat who spent the entire time I was there just sitting in the corner staring out the window. I guess that's the thing, I'm forgetting that there is a difference between boy cats and girl cats. I'm also forgetting that the detective did bad things when I first brought him home too. But nothing as bad as the pooping. Oh the pooping. Thankfully the vet said it was a really common condition and could have been caused by a million different things. They gave me medicine that I've been giving her and it's totally working miracles.
But it was a pretty rough couple of days there for a while and by the time I got back from the vet's with Miss Kitty I just wanted to get out of the house and away from cat poop world. I ended up driving down longboat key and ending up here:
I would have stayed for sunset but I really wasn't dressed for it. I ended up just walking around for a bit and taking pictures.
Between the beach and the parking lot was this mini park that had a walking path with picnic tables every so often. It was pretty cool, especially at sunset:
Anyways, the point is that I did a lot of reflecting about Miss Kitty, and life. I'm still not sure what I am going to do about her. For now it seems like she's feeling a lot better and I'm almost done with her medicine. I'm hoping that I can get her in at a no kill shelter, or find somebody who would like to adopt her but in the meantime the next step will be trying to figure out how to get her fixed and vaccinated.
I just bought Jennifer Hudson's new album which is amazing I'm just not ready to really talk about it. Mostly because a lot of it is about loss and heartache and the power of love and all that so I have found myself more than once listening to a song in the car and thinking about Miss Kitty and then bursting into tears. It's actually gotten to the point where as soon as "Where You At" comes on my eyes start welling up.
Embarrassing.
