nice doggies
As part of my incredible FIVE DAYS OFF IN A ROW I wanted to make sure I made time to see all the nice doggies. I tried to take as many pictures as I could and got a few nice ones.
I liked that guy. He came and stood next to me and made that wary expression the whole time. When my hands weren't busy petting anybody he would gently but firmly place his paw on my arm and pull my hand over so I could pet him. All the while staying constantly vigilant. So nice.
I got some quality Yeti time in, which means letting her sniff deep deep within my ears, as well as petting her while she walks in circles around me.
Haha, so fluffy.
And Zeus! He's much more like a normal dog after a few weeks of training. He still wasn't particularly friendly with me but he at least let me pet him which was more than the last time.
Haha, I got a picture mid-yawn. His jowls are crazy!
Such a goof.
Usually once I'm outside I just hang out as Daniel takes each group of dogs back inside to their area, and lets a new round out to play. I tried to capture the moment all the little dogs were coming running out but they were TOO CRAZY!! At least I could handle it better than the greyhounds who were SO excited to see me they felt the need to charge at me full speed. If need help imagining why that's faintly terrifying I'll just remind you their average speed is 35 mph.
The little dogs on the other hand are just adorable.
Haha, he's like, "All eyes on me in the center of the ring just like a circus"
Of course after a day of seeing the nice doggies I always have to come home and spend some time appreciating that cat. He gets very jealous otherwise.

spending the day with my friends
Daniel invited me to meet his new service dog Zeus, and his friend Garry for lunch. Of course I jumped at the opportunity, as it meant I also got to visit all my other friends at the doggy park. Some of the little dogs I knew, but this was my first time getting to meet this special guy:
We became best best friends.
I also came to really enjoy this one:
She spent most of our time together barking at me and giving me a suspicious side eye. At some point I realized I didn't hear her incessant barking any more and I looked around to find her like this, half laying down, half standing. She's nice.
I also really liked this special character:
Sitting in the fancy princesse bed just howling and howling for no reason. It sounded like a cars engine revving up, so funny!
Haha : (
After I spent my time with the little dogs I got to go back and spend time with the big dogs, including the new special man Zeus:
Haha, Daniel in there for scale. Zeus is a Cane Corso which is apparently a very big manly breed of dog. All I know is that he's very very handsome and he's very very nice.
Look at that head! He's a beast!
After Zeus I got to see Yeti for a little bit:
before I got to spend time with the greyhounds, my favorite part of the day.
Haha. Champion likes to grab things and hoard them in his area that he's claimed as his own. He kept going for my cell phone so it was hard for me to take a selfie with him. I got one ok one though:
It showcases his silly underbite. I love him.
My old friend Humvee got the best picture in my opinion:
But I can't help but be partial to Ben:
I mean, it's a handsome name for a handsome dog.
I hate visiting the dogs because now when I drive to work and pass the intersection where I could go straight and get to work or turn right and visit with them I will seriously have to consider which to do. I mean, I could scoop poop for nickels and just hang out with the nice doggies all day long. That doesn't sound so bad...

rabbit rabbit rabbit
Ahh August. I have no feelings either way about August. My summer has been kind of strange and terrible since losing the Benz right at the beginning of it. Since all of that drama followed me in to July I kind of just gave up on having a summer. But things are kind of starting to settle and it is the start of a new month so maybe I can salvage my summer here in the end.
So far so good, I spent my morning visiting all the nice doggies.
It was bad enough with two at a time but now Daniel is training 4! I'm supposed to not get emotionally attached to four dogs?! IMPOSSIBLE.
After visiting with the greyhounds for a little bit I got to spend some time with Yeti. Pictures with her are way less adorable as all she wants to do be all up in my face.
As Daniel pointed out, her head is like twice the size of mine, so when she comes lunging at me for kisses it's a little terrifying.
I likened it to posing with your head inside an alligators open mouth.
I know she just wants to sniff and lick but I also know she could kill me pretty much instantly if she wanted to.
I love her.
Only Gypsy could distract her long enough for me to get a picture of her face.
Or when I was giving her booty pets.
But our photo shoot was short lived as Yeti has little patience for the summertime heat. It didn't take long before she went to patiently wait at the door to go back in to the air conditioning.
She's so big and fluffy and happy : (
She says, "ok, enough pictures, let me inside now please".
I'm really glad I got to see all the dogs this morning, and I've even still managed to make it to the grocery store and am now doing laundry. I think that's all the things I said I was going to do today. I do kind of wish I could have stayed and played with the dogs all day, I guess I will just have to be content with this guy:
who is decidedly less happy to spend time with me.

why would today be any different
I was actually fooled by the early morning sun in to thinking that today the rainclouds were finally going to go away.
I was wrong.
At least I got to meet the new greyhounds today. I like all of them, especially Sergeant and Sapper. They both just walked right over to me and leaned against my legs. No sniffing, no nothing, just, "give me pets please".
I like Cadence but as the only girl she's definitely a DIVA. Her fur is also ridiculously soft and her eyes are like gentle deer eyes. So basically I'm jealous of her and we could never be real friends, but I think we'll have a nice frenemy situation going on.
My time with Hero X was cut short because of an errand that needed to be run but I like him too. He makes funny faces and barely payed any attention to me.
I was too focused on the meet and greet so I didn't take any pictures, but I did take one on the way out of one of my favorite boarders at Daniel's place:
I love that Daniel has pictures all over the lobby of all his boarders, especially now that I'm getting to know them. Gucci is so funny, I love him. : (
I wish I could have stayed and played with the doggies a little longer but Daniel needed my assistance with his errand. It's good I did too, otherwise I would have never seen this:
I rarely covet something as much as I covet this file. And he leaves it so nonchalantly on his dashboard. I had half a mind to smash his window and swipe, what could only be, the pandora's box of manilla folders.
I let the opportunity go this time but now that I know it's out there the "answers" folder is going to be my white whale.
I came home from my doggy adventure with the intention of getting some things done. Instead I started petting the detective and ended up falling asleep on the couch all afternoon.
So all in all it was a day well spent.

spending time with the nice doggies
Daniel went out of town but said I could stop by and visit the greyhounds if I wanted. Since Yeti was there too he said I could hang out with her as well.
That was the only picture I was able to get the whole time I was there because they were all SO excited to see me. The greyhounds wanted nothing more than to stick their cold wet noses in my ears the entire time we spent together while yeti demanded full contact pets during our time.
: ( : ( : (
While I'm excited for the possibility of Jon and me going to LA on Wednesday, I won't mind if I have to stay around here as Daniel will be back and I will hopefully get to spend some more time with Scout and Humvee. We obviously can't handle being apart for long periods of time.

two nice guys
About a week ago I was out visiting Brendan at work which is when I met Daniel and Doc. Doc is the nice guy under my right arm in that picture, the other handsome guy is Gunner.
I actually didn't even notice Doc at first, but when I did I admit I was one of those terrible people that had to pet him and give him attention even though he was wearing his service dog vest. I couldn't resist! I hope that Daniel has forgiven me by now because since meeting him and finding out what he was doing I have actually started volunteering with him.
You should check it out here, there's lots of good information about the organization, and pictures! For any of you who know about my history you'll understand why this is a weirdly perfect fit for me.
So yeah, I'm looking forward to updating you guys on how those handsome guys are doing, and hopefully posting about more new recruits to come. In the meantime, here's my favorite picture of them I found on their facebook page:
