terror

This is what I wake up to.  The worst part is that he is usually aggressively purring, adding a maniacal edge to his demeanor.

Why can't he be normal?

his version of sharing

This is exactly how he slept last night, and most nights for that matter.  He didn't move when i got up this morning so I took this picture to document the inequality I have to deal with every night.

Why can't he sleep lengthwise?!  Why does it have to be sideways, and always with his butt pointing towards me.  The butt isn't even the thing that I mind, it's the tail.  That horribly fluffy tail, look at the range of that thing.  There is no escape.

He didn't move from that spot all night as far as I know and yet this morning when I woke up and went to pet him he licked his lips pointedly and looked over his shoulder at me like I was a stranger on the subway inappropriately touching him.  Shocked, angry, and a little bit disappointed.

home sweet home

After an exhausting day of sitting at JFK I am finally home and back in the arms of this handsome guy.

I'm scared for the repercussions of my leaving, I know they are coming.  I figure it will happen in the dead of night when I'm most vulnerable.

Suddenly I'm not feeling so tired anymore...

always with the creepin'

Just so we're clear, here is the view of this scene from the other angle:

As I mentioned earlier there's been some wacky weather around these parts lately including some high winds.  I put the raft back behind these chairs and propped against the window so it wouldn't blow away the other afternoon.  I certainly did not put it there so that cat could use it to hide behind while he stalked all of the nice morning birds and squirrels that run around the backyard.

I just don't like how much he enjoys watching from the shadows.  Nor do I enjoy how angry he gets when I discover his hiding places:

In this case it's really his fault for choosing a hiding place that has a glass wall.  Maybe that's more what bothers me about him, like the other day when he was sitting on the window ledge on the other side of the screen.  It's like, he watches from the shadows, but not really hidden in the shadows, just kind of in the shadows.  He wants to make sure you know that he's watching you.

I seriously looked over my shoulders for him just now.

up in the gym just working on his fitness

Lately I've been musing on how the detective and I were a lot closer in new york in some ways because our living space was so small that it was hard to get away from each other.  However, I'm definitely around more down here so he doesn't have the run of the place as much as he did.

One of the bittersweet things I've noticed is that he doesn't HARASS me while I'm trying to do yoga anymore, I imagine mostly because he doesn't even realize I'm doing it.  In new york I usually wouldn't let him be in my room if I could help it, but most of the time he was asleep on my bed and I felt bad disturbing him so I'd start doing my thing hoping he'd stay asleep.  Sometimes he would, most of the time he wouldn't.  Down here however who knows where he is at any given time of the day.  Half the time he spends the whole day behind the air conditioner, so it's not like me doing yoga inside is of any concern to him.

And as annoying as it is having him stick his butt right in my face when I'm in some compromising position, it always made me laugh and I kind of miss it.  So the other day I'm getting ready to do yoga when who should show up at the sliding door, yelling at me to get in, but that handsomest of guys.  After careful consideration I decided to let him in and it was just like old times.  Every time I would try to pet him he would wander out of reach and then lay down in some inconvenient spot on my mat.  When I would try to just continue with my yoga and ignore him he would become irritated and start rubbing against me or positioning himself so I couldn't help but pet him with the movements I was doing.

But, as usual, my flailing became too much for him to handle and he ended up passing out here in the corner where he remained for the next several hours:

my day

Today has not been the most productive in my history.  And I didn't even sleep in.  Usually if I sleep in I kind of feel like I accomplished that at least.

But today started for me like any other, at the crack of dawn.  Weezie would run full steam in to my room, leap from the floor directly up on to my bed, landing with all of his momentum directly on me.  Using my meaty body like a spring board he would bounce right back off, fly to the floor, and go tearing out of the room again.  The detective, upon seeing that I was roused, would begin his more subtle psychological torture.  The tip of his tail right in my face, his butt in my face no matter which way I turn, general lumbering around my head while I'm trying to enjoy sleeping in.

Even waking up early didn't mean that I got anything accomplished today.  I cleaned, yoga'd, ate food, watched seven, and got my laundry.  And here we find ourselves at dusk already.

Maybe I'm jumping the gun though.  The night is still young, perhaps there is excitement on my horizons.

I'm going to go put away my laundry and will my phone to ring.

creep

This is some watcher in the woods shit if you ask me.  You don't know what its like to be sitting in your room, vulnerable, thinking you're alone, until you turn your head and realize that someone is watching you.  Someone or something.

And you never know where you're going to see the eyes either.  You're rooting around under your bed for your suitcase, move a shoe, and come face to face with two glowing orbs of terror.

In this case I was sitting at my desk working on my computer and I looked out the window and realized somebody was peepin' at me through the leaves of my plant.

I took a bunch of pictures because he wasn't really even looking at me.  He was just laying there staring vacantly straight ahead of him, as if in a coma.

How is this the most comfortable place in the entire apt?
