an afternoon with Auntie Suzanne

Heather asked me if I wanted to see Auntie Suzanne one last time before she heads up north for the summer.  She also wanted me to help bring things down from the attic but it was way more fun to just watch Heather do it.  Especially when she would be standing at the bottom of the stairs saying something smart to me and then get hit in the face with an exercise mat.  It only happened once but I keep replaying the memory in my mind.  It went something like this:

After all our hard work we spent the rest of the daylight by the pool.  It was really beautiful and apparently all of the flowers and plants were put there by the neighbors who own the pool.

I like I like.

Except hibiscus always makes me thirsty for this:

which in turn makes me miss nyc and Meghan.

But then I remember that in nyc I wouldn't be lounging by a pool, being visited by these two nice guys:

I loved them, they were both so happy and just wiggling their little butts.

The boy stayed on the edge monitoring the situation and taking sips of water (it's a salt pool) while the girl  swam all around and took a bath.  They dried off together in the sun : (

I know there were a lot of good quotes from last night but I can't necessarily remember them right now.  I also know there were several things that I was sworn to never repeat to anyone.  I don't remember those things either.

It was a good afternoon.  Thanks Auntie Suzanne, I look forward to your triumphant return come winter.

more vacation please

Jon arrived early yesterday morning for some fun in the sun.  Apparently it's wretchedly cold up north right now?  I had no idea.

It's in the 80s for most of the day here.  It hit 90 at one point yesterday afternoon.  Thankfully it was just a short walk to the cool clear waters of the Atlantic.

And omg did I FREAK OUT when I saw this guy:

Jon was not as impressed with it as I was.  I guess he's seen it before.

It looks so amazingly fun though!!!

It was like a jet pack attached by a hose to another unit that trailed along behind him in the water.  It was the thing in the water that had the engine and sucked water up through the hose to become the jet pack.  Essentially this was who was at the beach yesterday:

I really want to do it, but I also want to do it with somebody else.  I'm too scared to do it alone.

After getting perhaps too much sun at the beach we headed back to the city to find food.  I was a little confused and took us to Lime again, thinking that it was the day for the drink special.  It was not.  We did however get a visit from these two nice guys:

They don't want you to feed them because they already get enough encouragement to come peepin' around, but they are just so adorable.  Jon had a hard time resisting their charms.  I guess because I've seen them before I'm more immune to their cuteness.

But only slightly.

I guess my ducks are in a row

I find it extra delightful that they are all adults.  I didn't realize ducks continued to walk single file even after they'd grown up.  How do they choose who the leader is?

It's too bad my phone auto focused on the rain drops on the windshield instead of on the ducks.  It's times like this that I think I should just invest in a real camera.  So often there are pictures that go untaken because I either can't get my phone ready in time or I know it won't be able to capture the image anyways.  Maybe I am ready to kick it up a notch and become that guy who walks around with a camera all the time.

I don't think I'm ready for that yet.  You are going to just have to keep suffering with blurry pictures of ducks.
